Patrick left the Avenue school to go to Reading College on the work preparation course. As well as studying Maths and English he was able choose courses he was interested in like IT and Sport.

Whilst at college Patrick had 3 work placements, WH Smith, Oracle and Oak Tree House. Patrick still goes back to Oak Tree house to visit from time to time.

Patrick gained further work experience with Project Search at Reading Berkshire Hospital, assisting the porter team to move patients around the hospital.

From there Patrick had support from Optalis who helped him secure paid employment at the Forest School in Wokingham as a site cleaner.

After a year Patrick came back to the Avenue School as part of the site cleaning team working for Heart Facilities.

Patrick says he is delighted to be back at the Avenue, he has received a warm welcome from the team and Symon the Head teacher.
