The Avenue Special School is looking for creative, motivational, and inspiring professionals.

Our vibrant and friendly school community supports more than 250 pupils, aged between 3-19, with a range of severe or profound learning difficulties, some physical disabilities and autism.

We have small, well-resourced classes and a real passion for supporting young people to have active and healthy lives through an exciting education both in and out of the classroom.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:-

Assistant Headteacher, Inclusion and Therapeutic Interventions.    The successful candidate will drive forward the vision and strategic development for therapies, interventions and inclusion within the school.  They will also be responsible for the educational psychology service, CAMHS, CAMHS LD and Mental Health Support.    Further information can be found in the Leadership section.  Closing date - 9 am on Monday 28th September 2026

Primary and Secondary Phase Leads.  In order to strengthen our leadership capacity, improve consistency of practice and continue to raise professional standards across our school and support operational and strategic demands, we are excited to have created two new roles - Primary and Secondary Phase Lead roles. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and day-to-day operational management of the Primary and Secondary departments.  Further information can be found in the Leadership Section. Class Leads. We are looking for full-time Class Leads to join us in January 2027.  Applications are welcome from mainstream colleagues considering a transition into SEN education as well as experienced professionals currently working in SEN.  Further information can be found in the Teaching Vacancies page of our website.   Closing date - 9 am on Monday 5th October 2026. 

Site Team Admin Assistant.    The successful candidate will be the backbone of our Site Team operations, ensuring the efficient operation of all facilities, maintenance activities, contractor management, compliance reporting and office services.    Further information can be found in the Admin section.   Closing date - 9 am on Wednesday 30th September 2026

EHCP Team Administrator.  The successful candidate will ensure that the EHCP team runs smoothly and efficiently.  The role will involve arranging annual review meetings and taking notes in these meetings if required, together with all administration associated with the transition of pupils into, and out of, our school.   Further information can be found in the Admin section.   Closing date- 9 am on Friday 2nd October 2026.
