To help us keep accurate attendance records and ensure the safety of all pupils, please report your child’s absence as early as possible on the day of absence.

 

How to Report an Absence

1. Email: pupilabsence@avenue.reading.sch.uk

   Include your child’s name, class/teacher, reason for absence, and expected return date.

OR

2. Phone Call: 0118 3389038 (select option 1)

   Provide your child’s name, class/teacher, and reason for absence. Voicemail is accepted.

When to Report

• On the first day of absence (before 9:00am if possible).

• Each day the absence continues unless already confirmed.

Types of Absence to Report

• Illness, medical/dental appointments, family emergencies, planned absences - any reason that the pupil will not be in school.

Why Reporting Matters

• Ensures safety, accurate attendance, support where needed, and safeguarding compliance.
