School Council

The School Council is a group of pupils that have been elected by their peers who advocate for their peers at termly School Council meetings. Pupils are encouraged to bring items to add to the meeting agenda and to share their thoughts, feelings and ideas linked to school development plans. School council input has impacted key projects, such as:

  • The installation of our new sensory trail

  • The buying and construction of our new swing on the sensory trail

  • Improving pupil safety during morning and afternoon transitions by exploring road safety signs

  • Looking at inclusive signage across the school to develop independence

The council is an inclusive group that welcomes both senior and sensory councillors to the meeting, carefully considering how pupil voice can be captured and listened to.

This year our school is represented by Jack, Megan, Joseph, Stefan, Mikolaj, Aidan, Luca, Szymon, Meraki, Emerald, Logan, Meshach, Mahady, Assish and pupils from Heron, Kingfisher, Jay, and Puffin Classes.

In recent years, some of our school council members have attended youth council meetings and met with local leaders to share their lived experiences in order to improve outcomes for all pupils. Our councillors are prepared to listen to your views and ideas and will share with the Deputy Headteacher: Quality of Education in their next meeting, so please let them know what you would like to see in the future – keep an eye out for the pupils with the shiny council badges on their school uniform.
