Attendance
Children must get an education between the school term after their 5th birthday and the last Friday in June in the school year they turn 16.
You can only allow your child to miss school if either:
- He or she is too ill to be in school
or
- Advance permission has been given by the school
There is extra support available if your child can’t go to school for long periods because of a health problem.
Holidays in term time
You have to get permission from the headteacher if you want to take your child out of school during term time.
You can only do this by completing a 'Request for Leave' form available from the school.
Please note, leave will only be authorised if there are exceptional circumstances. Schools are at liberty to issue a fixed penalty fine to parents who take their child on holiday during term time without the school’s permission.
Further background information on the School’s attendance policy can be found in the government’s own publications concerning the matter.
